It’s not clear how the injury occurred, but the 25-year-old underwent surgery following the team’s game. Boedker, the Coyotes’ leading goal-scorer, is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with this injury.

The injury came at a bad time. General manager Don Maloney said Boedker was starting to play well in his recent games.

“The last few weeks I really thought he started to turn a corner of being consistently a dangerous player,” Maloney said to Arizona Central.

His teammates will miss him as well.

“He’s a good offensive player and it just seems like he’s playing with a lot of confidence right now,” coach Dave Tippett told FOX Sports. “He’ll certainly be missed out of our lineup. … It’s funny how it goes. We’ve been pushing people to start scoring more, other than him, and now it’s a necessity with him gone.”

For now Boedker is remaining in Winnipeg to recover. He could return to Arizona within the next two to three days according to Maloney.
